Skyview Teams

Team Programs offer children the opportunity to pursue gymnastics to a more advanced level, to participate in USA Gymnastics Junior Olympic competition, and to perform on National and International stages. The challenges and rewards of making a serious commitment to the sport are incomparable. Gymnastics is a difficult and beautiful sport, with lessons to teach about teamwork, responsibility, perseverance, and the power of a positive attitude. Gymnasts are among the strongest and healthiest of all young athletes - physically and mentally. It is our goal to give every athlete the opportunity to excel, and to do so in a positive, nurturing atmosphere.

Skyview Gymdancers - Directed by Diane Floyd

The Gymdancers performance team is the heart and soul of Skyview. The team is open to students Level 3 and above by invitation. They perform at local schools, fairs and community events throughout the year, and travel to a variety of Regional and National Gymnastics Festivals. The Gymdancers have won numerous awards for outstanding choreography and performance, and they have represented the US at international festivals in 1999 (Göteburg, Sweden), 2003 (Lisbon, Portugal), 2007 (Dornbirn, Austria), 2008 (Fort Worth, TX) and 2011 (Lausanne, Switzerland). The Gymdancers look forward to the 15th World Gymnaestrada to be held in Helsinki, Finland, 2015.

Acro Balance

Acrobatic Gymnastics
LeeAnn Lenhart, Josh Snyder

Acrobatic Gymnastics is a spectacular sport which combines the athletic prowess of Tumbling and Artistic Gymnastics with the grace, artistry and presentation of dance. Athletes compete in pairs, trios and fours, performing in two or three events depending on their level: the Balance Exercise highlights strength and flexibility, the Dynamic Exercise involves daring throws, pitches and catches punctuated with high-flying tumbling, and the Combined Exercise uses elements of both in a powerful demonstration of the athletes' skill and grace.

The Skyview Acro Team counts numerous State, Regional and National Champions among its members, and currently claims 2 members of the USA Gymnastics Age Group Development Team, and 2 Junior National Team members.

Men's Artistic Gymnastics - Frank Schmidt

Artistic Gymnastics includes the events familiar to most people from watching the Olympics on television.

Women (Girls) compete on the floor, balance beam, uneven bars, and vault.  At Skyview, we participate in USA Gymnastics Junior Olympic competition, levels 4 through 9.

Men (Boys) compete on floor exercise, parallel bars, high bar, pommel horse, rings and vault. The Boys Team is in it's third year at Skyview, and this year we welcomes Frank Schmidt as our new Head Coach. Competitive programs for boys are few and far between, so we hope to fill that gap with a powerful new team.

Trampoline & Tumbling - Paul Goodwin

T & T athletes compete on trampoline, synchronized trampoline (two at once!), double mini trampoline, and power tumbling. T & T is a great alternative for young athletes (boys and girls) who love to MOVE but don't particularly enjoy the challenges of the Artistic equipment. The Skyview T & T Team is growing by leaps and bounds, and last year the team brought home its first Gold Medal from the USAG Junior Olympic National Championships.
