Acrobatics, Tumbling & Dance
Skyview Team Programs
Skyview Teams and the Athletes' Theater Company offer children the opportunity to pursue gymnastics to a more advanced level, to participate in USA Gymnastics Junior Olympic competition, and to perform on National and International stages. The challenges and rewards of making a serious commitment to the sport are incomparable. Gymnastics is a difficult and beautiful sport, with lessons to teach about teamwork, responsibility, perseverance, and the power of a positive attitude. Gymnasts are among the strongest and healthiest of all young athletes - physically and mentally. It is our goal to give every athlete the opportunity to excel, and to do so in a positive, nurturing atmosphere.
Coached by Diane Floyd
Acrobatic Gymnastics is a spectacular sport which combines the athletic prowess of Tumbling and Artistic Gymnastics with the grace, artistry and presentation of dance. Athletes compete in pairs, trios and fours, performing in one, two or three events depending on their level. Balance Skills highlight the athlete's strength and flexibility, while Dynamic Skills include daring throws, pitches and catches in choreography punctuated by high-flying tumbling.
The Skyview Acrobatic Gymnastics team was originally created by Diane Floyd to challenge the members of her Gymdancers Performance Team. She was honored by USA Gymnastics in 2004 with the National "Rookie Coach of the Year" award, and led a trio of Skyview acrobats to International competition in Belgium, France, and Portugal before stepping back to focus on World Gymnaestrada and Gymdancers Teams. Dozens of Skyview acrobats have claimed State, Regional and National Championships over the years. We hope to build a new competitive team for the 2017-18 season, so if you are interested, please let us know.
Girls' Artistic Gymnastics
Coached by Mimi Husser, Kate Busch & Roz Rieland
Artistic Gymnastics includes the events traditionally associated with Olympic competition: Uneven bars, beam, vault and floor exercise. Skyview participates in the USA Gymnastics Junior Olympic competitive program.
Power TeamGym & Gymnastics for All
Coached by Bailey Rammling
Power TeamGym is a competitive sport within the Gymnastics for All discipline of USA Gymnastics. Athletes compete in groups of 6 to 14, performing a Jump Routine, which includes tumbling, vaulting and mini-tramp, and a choreographed Floor Routine.
The USAG program also includes Gymfest performances and choreographic "challenges"
Skyview has been active in the Gymnastics for All program since 1997 (when it was called Group Gymnastics). The Team has traveled to all corners of the US and to World Gymnaestradas in Sweden, Portugal, Austria, Switzerland, and, most recently, Helsinki, Finland.
